When using Web photo gallery in Photoshop 7 is it possible to change the extension to PHP instead of htm or html?

Why would you want to. A php page goes through a php processor on its way to the end user. There is nothing in the page that needs to be processed.

Of course, if you ARE planning on adding some php code to the page, then you MUST change the extension to php, and view it through a php equipped server.

I will be adding more php code to the pages once they are created. If i can change the extension to php then i wont have to manually change the links. Is it possible to change the extension to php? if so how.

You would still have to use an editor to change the links in the ‘former’ html, much easier if PHP extensions could be generated to begin with.

A good editor should be able to change them without too much effort, I would think.

(but I’m far from an expert when it comes to coding, I usually just throw the stuff at the coding guy with instructions to leave me alone)

I would grab a freeware file renamer < http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Flexible_Renamer/flexrename r.html> to rename ‘.html’ files to ‘.php’. Then I would use EditPad lite <http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/EditPad_Light/editpad.html> to open all the PHP files at once and change their internal HREF tags from .HTML to .PHP.

Hi Darren,

In CS it looks like the only available extensions are .htm and .html. —

Yet, no better rename file than the old dos command "rename *.html *.php". Free as a bird.

To change the internal links I use Arachnophilia, but I guess EditPad or any other similar sofware does the same work. Me, I am still looking for something that makes a good GREP in windows.

Did it auto magically change the internal link names too, in your day? 😉 I expect the OP knows how to rename and edit, but the fact remains that it would be much nicer just to generate PHP from the start. I have the same issue with Dreamweaver photo album and it adds two more steps to the workflow having to rename and edit. FWIW

erm, no. 🙂

textpad might be a help. and you’re right the real solution is to allow the program to generate the name. sounds like a good feature request to me. you should submit it.

FWIW: Servers can be configured to run htm and html pages through the PHP processor as well.

Thanks for all your help.

The program "flexrenamer" has made the renaming a few click operation.

For the links i am now using Dreamweaver MX, selecting the source code and the using the find/replace option to change .htm to .php
