Hello,

I remember finding a tip back when I was using PS5 or 6 I believe it was… It was concerning the selecting and or activation of a layer within the image itself.

For Example:
I have an image with 20 individual layers in it… instead of constantly going back an forth to the layers palette and selecting the layer that I want to work with, I was able to click the part of the image I needed to say move slightly. When I placed my move tool on the section I wanted to move the layer that it was on was automatically selected.

Is this still possible within PSCS2 and can someone explain whats needed inorder for me to do it..?

Thanks for your time…
Jim.

ctrl+click (move tool) on the layer.
Or right-click (move tool) above the layer to select a layer below the pointer from list (any other tool). If another tool is active then ctrl+right-click.
Or in the Move tool options, check Auto Select layer.

Caveat: if you check Auto Select you may find yourself flipping to the wrong layer or Background unintentionally sometimes.
