Ok. I feel pretty good about my ability to correct red eye in photos of people. I can’t seem to get it right when the same effect (usually white eye) occurs when shooting pets.

The glow is not red, but clear or white. Nothing I have tried looks even close to natural.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Use the brush, or saturation(sponge) tool to get it blacker. And pet eyes can be many colors….

Thanks, Chris. I’ve tried the brush to paint it black. The result was not very good. I’ll try the saturation tool.

As for eye colors in pets, I’m not talking about the eye, itself, of course. I’m talking about the "red eye" effect. In my pets, the pupil does not exhibit a red color, but, more the color of a spot light – more clear and certainly not red. I assume that’s why my settings for eliminating red eye aren’t working.

I would have thought the process to be the same as for human eyes, but, when I click to replace the "red" spot on photos of our new puppy, nothing happens.

As it is, even with humans, I can’t get the replacement color to be black. It comes out some shade of gray which I then treat with the burn tool to darken it as much as I want.

I get good results on photos of people – so far, less than satisfactory results on pets. I’m still working on it.

Thanks for the tips.

Yes, and that effect can be many different colors depending on the type of animal. Because of the color differences, it is NOT the same as for a human eye.

And the worst I’ve seen is rabbits that can show a gradient of colors (yes, in a single eye).

It can also depend on the color of the eye. Cats with blue or gray eyes will cause "red eye" when exposed to a flash , while cats with yellow or orange eyes will cause "green eye".

It’s kind of neat that different eyes cause different color problems.
