Hi,
I have a Photoshop (PSD) document that uses shapes in the form of jigsaw puzzle pieces to define areas of a bitmap image that will either be displayed or hidden from view. You can see a close approximation of how this is supposed to work here:

This effect is achieved by using two styles. One style is used to knockout to background the pieces that are to be hidden and the other styles is used to a bevel with a rounded contour and a satin finish to the pieces that are to be displayed. You can see the Styles Palette with the two relevant styles, Puzzle show piece and Puzzle knockout piece along side the layers palette that shows the structure of the shapes with their associated clipping masks and the Style dialogue, here:

You can see the settings in the Style dialogue used for hiding parts of the image here:

You can also see on that same image, and this is the problem, that parts of the bitmap bleed past the edges of the shapes. This occurs if the pieces are knocked out to transparency or to background. Here is the same thing knocked out to background:

I have also tried doing this same project using vector masks with clipping paths rather than shapes but get identical results bleeding past masks.
Finally, the problem is compounded by adding a drop shadow to the individual smart objects that contain the vectors and other smart objects. You can see that here:

I have tried and tried to fix this problem but I am new to Photoshop and ran out of things to try that made sense early on. Since then I have just be changing things at random with no success.
