when I try to initialize my Photoshop cs 8.0 the following message appears: "could not initialize Photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted)." . don’t know what might be the cause for this problem or how to solve it, so I am asking for your help.

my computer is a portable one running windows XP home edition I think with 512MB ram

thanks

Miguel,

And does Photoshop then start OK?

If Photoshop finds a corrupt preference file it will delete it and should then start with factory defaults.

The usual cause of a corrupt preference file is closing down the computer without first closing down Photoshop
