I would like to create multiple page pdf files from different Photoshop files. I’m working in Photoshop 6, but would consider upgrading if it will get me a solution. So far, all I see is a way to save single page pdf files.

Also, it would be nice to be able to save and edit different page configurations – enabling me to save and edit the page order of several different catalogs from a collection of Photoshop files. It would be nice if when I made a change to a Photoshop file, the catalog would automatically reference the newly edited version of that page as needed. It seems like I’m asking a lot – what is the best approach for me out there? The basic thing I need is to make multiple page pdf files from Photoshop. The other would be icing on the cake.

I know some of you do all this on a daily basis – probably with some very fancy software. I guess my question is how little can I spend and get this job done? Does Office Publisher do any of this for me? I have that, but haven’t looked at it.

No.

Not in 7 0r 8 either. I don’t know about 9 (CS2).

I believe InDesign will do it.

Both CS and CS2 have the ability to use variables to get images from a directory; the images would change upon loading if the files have changed. Not sure if this existed in version 7. Look in the help file or manual under "data-driven" or "variables".

Later:

I have actually been able to do what I want in MS Publisher. It will create objects that link to individual psd files and upgrade as the pdf files are changed. Then I can print to a pdf conversion utility. And I think there are other application options that will make pdf files from Office docs.

I’ve tried it and it all seems to work.

Whoops, I mean "upgrade as the PSD files are changed"

InDesign will certainly update linked images and is lightyears ahead of Publisher.
