Hello. I’m desperate for some help and my lack of time is driving my desperation to stressful levels. My family has been thru much this past year. Laughing and humor was to be my gift this holiday to hopefully see smiles in lieu of tears. I downloaded the trial version of photoshop cs2 in the hopes that I might be able to take family photos and turn them into laughable moments for us all by moving heads, faces and such around so we could all get a hearty laugh at ourselves, for ourselves. This software is so very new to me that the "terms" used for using it and identifying tools is making my gift almost impossible to accomplish now. Can someone…please offer me some simple step by step procedures for taking a picture from the bridge and moving heads, faces hair etc around from one person in the photo to the other in the photo? I would be so grateful for anyone who might be able to help me.

Thank you so very much and happy holidays

Steve

Hello Chris and thanks for your reply. I’m pretty fast forward when it comes applying things just hard pressed right now to understand the step-by-step processs I need to understand to do it. Any roadmap you can suggest?

Thanks,
Steven

Google for Photoshop tutorials. But this isn’t like learning to use Word or PowerPoint.

I’ve been using PS for the better part of 10 years and I still learn something new just about everytime I use it.

1) mask out the parts you don’t want to move (layer mask, selection, or use extract)
2) paint or clone areas that will be exposed in the target area
3) copy the parts you’ve masked onto the target area (use a layer for most flexibility)
4) adjust/tweak to taste

However, that’s a bit of oversimplification…

If you want some results in the next few days I’d go for something like Photoshop Elements which is cheap; offers all you would need, and contains wizards to walk you through the tasks involved.

Let me start by thanking EVERYONE who offered their suggestions to my post. I am grateful for everyone’s thoughtful input. I have elected to go the way of John Joslin’s recommendation and have downloaded Photoshop elements 5.0. I am opening the program now for the first time and will hopefully have better results.

Thank You to all.

John, please look for my private email in the next day.

Regards,
Steven

If you want to screw with peoples looks, just play with the liquify filter under the filter menu.you wont move heads that way,but a couple tools there can really be hilarious. try the pucker, bloat or warp tools and you will get some laughs for sure. you can also do enhancements easily if you have a female relative that may need a quick enlargement if you know what i mean. its cheaper than cosmetic surgery.

Have you tried The Gimp?

The Gimp can be a chore, it can be fantastic and it needs a lot of tender care and attention.

However! Once proficient in The Gimp I claim that any bit of graphics software is easier to use (I think it builds understanding that can readily be transferred to other products)
