How i will do that?

Photoshop can now be automated to do what you want through both Actions and Scripts. Since you don’t tell us what version you are using, one method (Scripts) may not be available to you. In any event no one is likely to comply with your request to

Please tell me all the steps.

Show some initiative, get out your manual, and READ. And do NOT come back telling us that your dog ate your book.

Yes, I’m feeling like an A-hole today. Anyone have a complaint?

More info is needed. What do you mean by "lower resolution". Actual lower resolution means fewer pixels and lower image quality. Is that what’s wanted? What is the final use of the images?

giannispass:

this is a User-to User forum where real users freely give of their expert knowledge and offer real answers to real problems.

"Please tell me all the steps" is tantamount to saying : "I can’t be arsed trying to work this out – do it for me, would you?"

As such it is only ever going to elicit the kinds of responses you have just witnessed.

* Define your problem
* Search the Help Files (or read the manual)
* TRY the procedures suggested therein

Then, if you are still having problems, come back here and clearly structure your question in such a way those you are asking for help will know exactly what your problem is.

Then, and only then, will you receive the responses you are looking for.

Chris.

Here’s what you want to look up in the help file:

CN,

I think you might be getting ahead of yourself. He still hasn’t determined whether he wants to resample or not, methinks. The problem needs to be defined.

Ha ha ha…
Very clever…
If i can solve the problem, i wouldnt post a question here. Ok, if it is so difficult for some of you, dont help me, but please dont post silly things, because it is not help.
I am using photoshop 7 and my question, is the way that i can configure the auctions to lower the resolution.
I want that, because a client wants all the files, but i dont want to print from them, only to preview at the pc monitor.

Thanks

giannispass,

What you do not understand is that with the information you have provided, there is no answer. Admittedly, you may not know enough to provide the necessary detail.

Most of the folks that post here are professionals with exceptional knowledge of photoshop, and while the answer has been given to you, I will attempt to spin it a different way.

You have to first decide exactly what you want to do to an image. "Resize" can mean anything – so let’s assume that you know what you mean, even though we don’t.

You create an action that "resizes" an image to your liking. You include in that action the save as process (so you need to know what format you want to save them in).

Once you have created an action like that, you can use the power of photoshop to run that action in Batch on an entire folder of images – or only certain ones – only you can decide that.

So the mechanics of creating an action, and running a batch process are in the Helpfile, and are the two Keywords that you can use in the Helpfile to read about how to do these things. There, you will run into a snag. When you do, come back and ask your specific question, and help is here.

Peace,
Tony

It’s not that people don’t want to help; it’s that you have not framed your question properly so what you want to do is not entirely clear.

Do you want fewer pixels/smaller file size (lower quality)? Check Resampling in the Image Size dialog. If not, don’t check it. This may change the numbers shown in Image Size but will not really change the file at all.

From the flyout arrow on the Actions Palette, Record an Action resizing one file. Run that Action in a Batch under File>Automate.

Create an action that uses "size to fit" to resize an image to the size that you want (e.g., fit within 480px x 480px), and then save it to a new subdirectory and close the image. Test it with another image. If it works, then use it in batch mode. If it doesn’t work, come back for help.

I guess the question is, What is the resolution of the pictures now; what resolution do yo want them to be? Apparently a smaller size is needed. You can make an action of changing the "resolution" in Image Size with Resampling checked ON. That is one way. There are others.

I might make a Web Gallery out of them. File>Autoomate>Web Photo Gallery. That is easy and can be viewed in any browser.

There are other ways that you might find other Photographers, etc. doing. I’d look around and see what they are using. When my brother died recently, the Funeral Home made a nice photo presentation on DVD for us. Not sure how they did it, but I’m sure if I needed to I could find out.
