I have bought a huey device and calibrated my monitor, but I still cannot get my canon pixmapro 9000 to print accurate, everything I print on the printer comes out darker and muddier than the view on my monitor, any suggestions?

any suggestions?

not really, except to just go through color mgmt and see if there’s anything you missed.

I have the same problem with my canon mp600.Although I havent purchased a calibration software, I sent the question to canon, they replied that the monitor is backlit and therefore will appear lighter on the monitor. The difference isnt real bad but noticeable.Im looking to purchase another monitor and maybe correct the issue but im not sure what the "pros" are using. Im hoping its just a monitor issue as I have a dell.

I am using a Dell, and think it’s a fine monitor for my purposes. The "pros" are probably using professional monitors, and often will have a budget for these.

Calibrating the monitor is just one aspect of color management. Ignoring the other steps will surely lead to disappointing results. Aside from the reference mentioned twice above, spend some time in the Color Management forum:

Also read the Photoshop help documentation.

Color management isn’t a simple topic – entire books have been written on the subject. So if you want acceptable results, it is going to take making an effort to learn about it.

I noticed that your printer has plugin software for PhotoShop that is supposed to give accurate colors, so I would imagine that your problem lies there. If it didn’t have that software, then it most likely would be that the printer is not calibrated to your monitor, but not knowing how the software works, I’m not sure.
You may want to obtain a profile for your printer. They can be gotten for around $40 each.(one profile for each type of paper you use.)
I’ve mentioned her site before, but Cathy’s Profiles is one of many online sites that offer this service. What you do is to download the three profile targets, then print them out on the type of paper you want a profile for, setting your printer to the settings the site tells you to use. You then send the printouts with a check to them, and they analyze what your printer printed out against what it should have printed out, and they create a profile that corrects the mismatch. They e-mail the profile to you.
When you go to print, you select "Print with Preview", and at the bottom, you select the profile they sent you.
I’ve had good success with Cathy’s service (
