hello,
i’ve been working on a large project and as i was finishing up, flattening the image and things went haywire. the opacity of the layers, though still set to 100% look like they are more at 10%. a few layers have brief patches of higher opacity.
switching to RBG doesn’t help, dragging the layer to a new document doesn’t help. restarting the computer and program does not work. any ideas? i’d really like to not have to rework everthing but the document, as it is now is not useable…
thanks!
nate

Are you viewing the image at 100%

viewing at any percentage is the same: lacking in density. BUT i noticed that the thumbnail (i.e. in the ‘open’ dialog window) has the image properly displayed. but if the file is opened and shrunk down to a comparable size as the thumbnail, it has the same problem.
thoughts?
thanks!

What Blending Mode?

EDIT: On the original layered document, that is. You DID save a copy of that I hope.

there is a whole array of blending modes. there are 10 layers and each of them has lost most of their opacity.
I have the imported photographic elements of the image, but things like gradient layers, and shapes have all lost their desnsity even those with a normal blend and opactiy set at 100%.

Have you tried stamping visible layers?

no, how would i do that?

Create an empty layer on top of all the other ones, then with that layer highlighted in the layers palette, press command-option-shift-E

Edit: that would be Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E on a windows machine (I think)

okay. yeah, i’d tried something like that. sadly, it doesn’t work. there is a little filling out of the image, by virtue of doubling up the layers, but it is negligable…shoot. i had that glimmer of hope for a moment. ha!

Maybe try resetting preferences than flattening the file again.

I have to say I’ve never seen this.

probably a dumb question but did you use Adjustment layers that may have gotten on top of the layers with the opacity issues?
