This has happened twice to me lately. I do a fresh install of Adobe Photoshop CS2 on my Windows XP SP2 Home computer. I then install all the usual updates for PSCS2 and start installing all the plugins. I install the following:

Stair Interpolation Pro v2
Alien Blowup v1.0
Genuine Fractals PrintPro 4.1
pxlSmartScale 1.03

These are installed into their default locations and are found in "File > Automate" menu. I check each one after install and they work fine.

I then install all my other plugins. There are alot of them. Those are installed by default in the > "Filter menu". Periodically, I go back and check the previous installed plugins and they continue to work fine. However, when I have completed installing all my plugins, I have found that the previous plugins in the "File > Automate" menu have quit working. In fact, all the plugins (even the plugins that come with Adobe PhotoShop) have quit working. They appear as though they are available but nothing happens when I click on them.

This is very frustrating. I want to use all the plugins that I install. I can’t go without any of them. I realize that to some degree Stair Interpolation Pro v2, Alien Blowup v1.0, Genuine Fractals PrintPro 4.1, and pxlSmartScale 1.03 are redundant but that does not appear to be the problem having them installed where they are (or is it?)

It is strange that the problem occurs with the plugins in the "File > Automate" menu only after I install all the other plugins into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins folder, but all those other plugins continue to work fine.

I have read that on previous versions of Photoshop only so many plugins were allowed to be installed. I never experienced that with Photoshop 7.0. Is this or something similar causing my problem in PSCS2? Are there any work arounds?

I have the Plugin Commander but find that to be a tedious and confusing program to use so I have chose not to manage my plugins with it. I have also reset my Memory & Cache Settings in Preference to various limits (high and low) to see if that would correct the problem but to no avail. What is going on here? Can anyone help me out?

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks
