Minitel, in Germany known as BTX was a communication system based on text (and a restricted kind of graphics) capable telephones. Very funny to hang around on your phone in chat channels over asynchronous analog subscriber line with data rates as low as 2400/75 bit per second.

But that was back in 1986…
