Crop tool being stubborn?

I’m sure I just clicked something and that is what made this problem. Whenever I click the crop tool, and then crop an image. I then try and place text on that image and no matter what font I’m using, it appears so small you CAN’T see it. I had to enlarge it to 1296 in order just to barely see it.
The image isn’t huge. I even resized it to 400 X 200 pixels. I have no idea if the crop tool did something, because before I crop the image, I could put text on that same image just fine. I also went through and made my photoshop go back to the default workspace. That did nothing.
Any help appreciated,

Are you sure you set your crop tool in pixels and not inches ?

Well upon further research I found that the problem was the resolution on the crop tool was set to 1 instead of 72. So that is where my problem came from.
So you were pretty close. Thanks for the help,

Speaking of which, my crop tool has suddenly decided to crop an area only so large and no larger. That is to say, it crops only a portion of an image and not the whole entire thing. I can’t enlarge the cropping area no matter what I do. I’ve trashed the preferences, got around it once by making a copy of the image and cropping that but that’s hardly a solution.

Have I inadvertently turned something on?

look in the options bar when the crop tool is selected martha. there’s probably contrain proportions set or something, if you nothing jumps out at you, you can reset the values.

There’s a handy little button labelled "Clear".

That should clear it!
