Hello, I’m using PSCS2 and I have an outdoor image of a billboard that I made and I need to select just the billboard to do a curves adjustment. From the angle I had to take it from, the billboard is skewed. How do I do a rectange selection and then drag the corners to line up to the billboard part of this image? I tried free transform, however, it is distorting the image, not adjusting the marching ants.

I did try the PS help and all I found is "free transform" – not what I need.

Thanks for any help.

SELECT>TRANSFORM_SELECTION Then choose "Skew" from the right-click fly-out menu and draw the handles to the four corners of the billboard.

Chris, I tried that and it’s moving / distorting the image of the billboard and not letting me just move the marching ants selection.

I’m taking the rectangular marque, drawing around the billboard, giong to edit, the transform, then skew.

Is this what I’m to be choosing? If so, it’s moving the image and not the marching ants.

Let me know!

Thanks,
MD

Edit > Free transform and the various transforms below it in the Edit menu affect the selected part of the image.

Select > Transform selection and the various transforms below it in the Select menu affect the selection frame (the marching ants) but not the image.

You could also use the Polygonal Lasso to make a straight-line quadrilateral selection.

Folks, I accidently posted my last message twice – Sorry.

Michael, that did it. I was using "Edit" instead of "Select".

Thanks,

Glad you got it sorted Jan.

By the way, you have up to 30 minutes to edit/delete a post should you make a mistake in this forum.

Habe you tried using Filter=>Vanishing Point to make the selection? It works great when trying to clone an area with a persepctive problem – it may work to make the selction you need on a layer to do the curves adjustment
