It is with deep sadness that I inform all of you of the passing of John Slate. He suffered a fatal heart attack today while shoveling snow in his home state of Colorado. He loved this forum and never missed a day of logging in so I thought that some of you might want to know. His wife and daughter shall miss him more than words could ever convey. I trust he touched some of you as well. John was loved.

To the friends of John Slate I trust he touched some of you as well.

Oh, yes indeed. Such sad news. This is so hard to believe. He was much too young.

John was also at one time a member of the Jubilee Forums. He was very knowledgeable and had a keen ability to express himself well.

Beyond that, John was an exceedingly skilled fine artist – a fact which many members of this forum may not be aware.

His focus and clarity of expression is as evident in his work with paint and brush as it was with words. Below are some of his paintings that he shared with us. While I know this is "off topic", and not typically the type of thing that is posted in this forum, I believe he would be pleased to have them shared here as well.

I would like to express my thanks to the author of this sad message. It was so kind and thoughtful for you to let us all know. And yes, John will be missed by many. He had friends all round the world. Condolences from us all.

I knew John very briefly from another forum and marveled at the paintings he posted, as shown above. Condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.
