text layers disappear upon import from Elements

hmm, do they still open in Elements with the type layer intact? If not, then it sounds like the file was flattened.

Richard, I’m not real good at this, but I think it might be tied to the fact Elements is based on a newer engine – the one for PS 7.0. Have you tried saving these files as TIFFs, which also supports layers but is a universal format?

In preferences you can set Maximize Compatibility for PSD Files. Take a look if that helps.
