RenameMaster.exe
In the replace tab:
Check NAME with but leave the space blank.
Click the arrow to the right of the EMPTY text box.
Click the dot button beside current number and fill in the number for padding with zeros.
Click the Rename button in the lower right corner of the program.
AND IF NEEDED before clicking the rename button:
Keeping all the files you want to rename checked, click the Add to tab.
Under name click end and add in what ever job/project/etc name you want.
If I click the rename button with a directory of pictures about to go to DVD, I will fix a cup of coffee and have 6161 files named from 000001-test pic.jpg through 006161-test pic.jpg when the program has finished. (Without the Add To, the files would be named with just the numbers)
THAT would take awhile to run. Time is determined by the number of files in the directory not the number with name changes (the sort time??) I normally use it to name as per PitcherPlants-04-20-06.raf from DSCF0123.raf to make the names a bit more descriptive.
There IS a preview and it is able to undo the last change. I haven’t tried that after unchecking the renamed files so better check the entire batch before telling it to go ahead.
You can also check and uncheck individual files from the renaming process, but the numbering seems to follow original file order so you end up with number gaps.
Program is free.
I’m using version 2.7.4 build 2164. I don’t know the URL, but Google finds it quite easily
Hope this helps.
