I am trying to make my selection stay colored, while making the rest of my photo black and white. I have no idea how to do it! Someone help me please!

Yes i need help making my selection stay colored, while the rest of the pic stays black and white! How do i do it?

Make a selection of the area you want to keep in color. Inverse it (Shift-Ctrl-I). Go to Image>Adjustments>Hue and Saturation and pull the slider all the way to the left

OR

Image Adjustments>Channel Mixer and check Monochrome.

That’s the simple way. There are variations that give you more control. Look through some of the forum posts. A explore Adjustment Layers. This question has been answered quite often.

With your selection active (that is, the part you want to keep in full color is still surrounded by the "Marching Ants" dotted lines) go to Select—>Inverse (or use the shortcut CTRL+Shift+I).

At the bottom of your Layers Palette click on the Adjustment Layer icon (the split circle). From the menu, choose Hue/Saturation.

In the Hue/Sat dialogue box that comes up, move the Saturation slider to the left.

Tap the "OK" button when it looks good.
