Can someone show me how to "mask" a text??

Hi there..

As refer to the subject… a bit loss here as out of touch with this function for quite some time.. would be appreciate if some kind folks outhere could shown me how , using step by step guide.. thanks

Even before doing the following, please read-up on Using Channels and Masks in your manual.

1. Select your text layer (and it needs to be a seperate layer not just the background…if the text is on the background layer, forget it. You’re not going to be doing any masks anytime soon.)
2. Create a layer mask (on the layer palette it’s the the circle one)
3. Make sure to select the "mask" by clicking on it (it’s the blank
"page" to the right of the text layer in the layer pallette.)
4. Your colors on the tool bar should now be in grayscale. Now whatever
you paint black disappears, whatever you paint white appears. Make sure you are really working in the layer mask and not on the actual layer.

Can you explain what you are trying to achieve? Your question is a bit vague.

There is a Text Mask tool is that’s what you’re asking. Click and hold on the T in the Tools palette and it will appear in the flyout. —
