Hi

I am trying to create a header but I don’t know how to duplicate my button on my header.
I have a blue header where I have created a rectangle gray button. The button was created with the "Rectangular marquee tool" and filled with gray. It is currently still selected and is on it’s own layer. I want to copy that button and paste it 4 times on the bottom of my layer, how do I do that?
I have tried the "Path selection tool" after searching google but it doesn’t work.

Thanks to all

Best regards

Patrick

Hi

The original poster here, I need to correct myself.

In the following sentence replace the word "layer" with "header":

"I want to copy that button and paste it 4 times on the bottom of my layer, how do I do that? "

Sorry and thanks

Patrick,

If it’s on its own layer, you copy the layer four times. You then move the layers where you want with the move tool (V on keyboard). Copying and pasteing creates a new layer each time you paste.

Thanks a lot it did work but I have a question. I am following this tutorial:

http://www.gfxoutpost.com/tutorial/show/simple-webpage-heade r

Now look at step 7, it says " Duplicate the button across the header layer, leaving a small gap in between.", it appears that the tutorial creator says to duplicate that button on that same "header layer" and not create any new ones. Did I read this right? And does it matter if the same .psd file has 5 layers or 10?
I don’t try to be picky, I am just trying to understand what I am doing.

Thanks again for the kind help

I can’t open it but I think I know what he may be doing. Draw your rectangle with the marquee tool and fill it.
Select the move tool (V on keyboard) and with the alt key depressed, click on the rectangle and drag another instance of it out to where you want it.
Repeat as necessary.
