Hi, I’m a New-bee,
I have installed Photoshop CS in German, but the translation is very poor, sometimes really not understandable.
Where can I get a english version of the manual (720p) in pdf. I couldn’t find it on Adobes site. And its really not on the CD, even if I’m going to try to install the SW in english on another machine.

Thanks in advance

You can’t install A German version of PS "in English". Each language version comes on a separate set of disks. And each will include a manual in PDF format in that language, and no others.

You might be able to upgrade to an English version from the German one, but you would have to talk to Adobe Customer Service for your country (it should be printed on the materials that came in the package).

Since all the menu commands and dialogs are in German, I don’t think an English manual will help much.

If you want to get a better understanding of the program, get one of the dozens of good books that are available in either language.

If you install the software on another machine from the same CD it will also be in German. (See what Don said above.)

Thanks to both Don and John for the quick reply.

Each language version comes on a separate set of disks. And each will include a manual in PDF format in that language, and no others.

This is not understandable, because a) the case of the CD and all text on it is in English and b) the program itself requests at installing the language wanted. In the installed version there are so many language directories.

… dialogs are in German, I don’t think an English manual will help much.

Its not the problem to find commands, but there are so many translation errors and mistakes in the German version.
I was already looking @ Amazon, but its very difficult to find a good book. Too many books to choose. I don’t want a help how to eliminate "red eyes" etc. I’m really working with all the utils.
Anyway thanks again.
I was still thinking, Adobe could provide a user with another manual for free at this price for the software. There is another point, the printed manual given is not as good as the pdf file and much shorter. So page numbers are not corresponding! Not a god reputation for a big company, sorry!

I’m still not understanding, why the support not gave any answer?

a) the case of the CD and all text on it is in English and b) the program
itself requests at installing the language wanted.

This refers to the language in which the end user license agreement is displayed and not to the program software. This is cropping up all the time on the forum because it is not made clear in the documentation.

The answer is always the same. I had both versions when I was instructing in Germany and nothing has changed as far as I know.

This is user-to-user support. You have to phone Adobe (and perhaps pay) for support from them.

If you want a good book on the basics (and a bit more) of Photoshop, look at Adobe Classroom in a Book for your version of the program. They cover most of the elements in tutorials very well.
