Hi,
I apologise for going off topic, but it does all tie in with PS, and I
would
be grateful for any help please, so here goes.
I upgraded my monitor to a NEC 1810 (LCD), having first checked that my video card (Radeon All in Wonder) supported flat screen digital. I connected using the lead supplied, and the quality was excellent until I increased the resolution to 1280 x 1024, (to fill the screen) and which is the optimum NEC recommend. As soon as I did this some of the pixels, especially in the darker colours started flashing/twinkling. No matter
what
setting I tried, I couldn’t get rid of these.
I ended up using the analogue input to the monitor by using the adapter
from
the old monitor. Has anyone got any idea how to rectify this please? TIA
Steve.

Steve Thomas

I’ve got **exactly** the same problem with brand new Ati Radeon 9800 256Ram and a 20" TFT Iijama AU5131 in 1600×1200 resolution (default for that screen).
Analogue cable works fine, but the provided digital cable gives those twinkling pixels.
Everything set up with newest drivers.
I would also be very interested in a solution…

Try this http://www.necmitsubishi.com/css/index.cfm go to "troubleshooting and helpful tips"…then just click on the "troubleshooting guide" …….click on the problem that seems the most like yours……..You probably have a magnet of some kind near the monitor (speakers, etc.)

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip, but I don’t think it can be interference from anything else, because it happens no matter where the monitor is on my desk. Similarly, if a magnet or similar was the cause, then it would cause the same problem in any resolution, this only happens in the optimum for the monitor.

Steve.

My service bureau here in Miami, has not found a LCD, that is good enough for color retouching with PS. So they are sticking to CRTs such as The NEC. I would like to have one of those skinny monitors but if I can’t color balance then I will stick with the BEASTY CRTs.
Yours,
Tom

Just to let you know, that I have solved the problem…on my lcd at least! The manual said that it supported frequencies of between 60 and 75 at the optimum resolution…..I reduced mine a tad…and hey-presto…the flickering has now gone!
In fact it’s fine on 60 and 70, but flickers on 75.
Let me know if it works on your machine.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Steve

The only supported frequency on my Iiyama is 60Mhz.. (I guess that 1600×1200 gets to the very maximum capabilities of the monitor) I’m not going to try unsupported ones; I’ll stick with the analogue cable, which is very good anyway. Making peace with the slight irritation that "something" doens’t work properly.
