Need details of what device the image is going to be printed on, the resolution, the color space, etc…

Here’s how we sometimes tell the client to send a scanned image:

scan the image 2-3 times larger than the original @ 300-600 dpi. Although it’s not recommended to save as a .jpg, you can still down size the image and save it as a 300 dpi .tiff. From my experience, there’s no loss in quality.

Maybe someone will come along with better advice.
