Brightness Contrast screen disappeared

When I try to use Image / Adjustment / Brightness Contrast the screen with the sliders does not come up – however the system behaves as if it is in the screen – I think that somehow the screen has either been positioned off my screen or sized so small I cannot see it! – how can I rectify this
