New files are being created in my directories as a result of either Illustrator CS or Photoshop CS. The files are titled Thumbs and are identified as data base files. In trying to back up, these files cannot be copied. I can find no reference to what they are, or why I need them.
Any suggestions?

The thumbs.db files are Windows doing and have nothing to do with Adobe. These files are created any time you view thumbnails in Windows Explorer or an open/save dialog box. They DO NOT need to be backed up. In fact if you don’t want them created you can turn them off. I don’t like them as the just hog space and so I turn them off. But, they are not Adobe’s doing.

Do not assume that because I didn’t reply to your comments that you are correct or that I am wrong or that I am correct and your are wrong. You can assume that you bore me!

Interesting that these files are not created by Adobe. Obviously, something has changed because I never had these "Thumbs" files. They seem to be new, and I associated them with my CS upgrades.
So, I will simply delete them? I assume that i don’t need them to actually view thumbail images in both programs.
Thanks.

Obviously, something has changed because I never had these "Thumbs" files.

You had if you ever viewed thumbnails in Explorer, but the thumbs.db file is marked hidden and you won’t ever see it with Windows default settings. My guess is you’ve selected "Show hidden files and folders" in "Folder options", perhaps accidentally.

They seem to be new, and I associated them with my CS upgrades.

They are nothing to do with Adobe.

So, I will simply delete them?

If you do they’ll come back automagically. Either ignore them or set the folders "Show hidden" option back to the default of "no".
