Hi y’all,

I’ve been working with photoshop for years. I’m not an expert, but I’m pretty familiar. Any way, today, out of the blue, photoshop wouldn’t allow me to use the healing or clone tool in some of my pix. It would say that there was a "program error" after I would select the reference point/area for the clone or heal tool and then tried to use it. I could get the same thing to happen on another computer (at work), so it’s not just my computer. It seemed to be intermittent. Any way, just in case there was some fouling of settings, I reset the preferences (renamed the folder) and that didn’t make any difference.

On the picture I would open it, maybe rotate the image a bit, resize it (maybe crop), change size with canvess size (had to make the pix wider), then I would try to heal or clone the new areas and sometimes it wouldn’t work. I’ve never had this happen before.

Any ideas?

Thanks Robert

That error can be vexing but I believe is most often due to trying to perform an operation, like cloning, on an adjustment layer for which cloning is not possible, such as curves or levels.

I checked to see if there were any layers, none. I tried saving the file and then reopening. Still the same problem. Tried rebooting the computer, cleaning the cache (of CS as well as XP).

Any more ideas?

Thanks.

Robert
