I am using Adobe Photoshop CS2 Version 9.0.2 on a Dell PC running Windows XP.

1. What is the largest number of images or pixels that can be merged?

2. This one is complicated. I have a big photomicroscopy merging project…

Using the microscope, I capture 3 images (1600p x 1200p each) for each field of view at high zoom (each picture with a different colored filter). For displaying, these 3 images are normally "overlayed" on top of each other in the image capture software (Spot) to obtain one 1600p x 1200 p tri-colored image. If quantitative analysis is required, the original unicolored images are converted to grayscale. Is there a similar way to overlay in Adobe Photoshop CS2?

I now need to capture 3 images for each of 16 fields of view at high zoom and then use Photomerge to make 3 large images (approximately 16 times the size of the originals, each a different color) that can be "overlayed" and still align perfectly even though they were merged independently.
OR is there a way to combined each set of three images from a field of view into a multi-colored image, making 16 multi-colored images, Photomerge them and then recover 3 unicolored images from the final merged one?

Thank you so much.

I can’t help with question 2 and I am not sure about question 1. However, recently it has come to light that many of Adobe’s products like Adobe Lightroom is limited to images 10,000 x 10,000 pixels in size. Photoshop can handle up to 30,000 x 30,000 I believe. However, it would not surprise me if Photomerge is limited to the 10,000 x 10,000. But, this is only based on a guess and based on the limits of other Adobe products. If your lucky it will be the same limit as Photoshop, but I doubt it.

Do not assume that because I didn’t reply to your comments that you are correct or that I am wrong or that I am correct and your are wrong. You can assume that you bore me!
