Excuse me if my question sounds dumb as I am completely new to this.

When looking up how to find Borders or effects to put around the edge of photos (eg, fading out etc) in the Manual is asks me to go to Actions – Borders.
I have nothing in my Actions folder. Am I missing a feature in CS2?

Click the little arrow top of the Actions Palette and select "Load Actions" from the fly-out menu.

Also explore the Layer Styles (button bottom of the Layers palette) The "Stroke" function will add a border to the image.

I usually just expand the canvas size (image>Canvas Size) to add a border to my image.

Hi Mat!

ME123,

If you click the ‘relative’ box on the Image>Canvas Size dialog box, you will be able to easily specify exactly the amount and relative position of borders you add.

It’s also easy to choose black, white, grey, your foreground or background color, or to select a specific color from your image by choosing ‘other’ and then selecting from the color picker box, or clicking an area in your image using the eyedropper tool (which will automatically be activated when the color picker dialog opens.)

hth,

Paz
