What color space are you normally working in? If unchecking the convert to sRGB option makes it look "normal" then is suggests that you are using Monitor RGB as your working space.

Sorry for not getting back here.

I’m still having the problem. I’ve had to just tolerate it. At first, I unchecked/checked (convert…) and now, no matter what I do, I get the problem. This started when I went to CS3; I never had this problem before and I’ve been using it since version 2. If there’s something new that everyone else finds obvious, I’d like to know what I didn’t know I needed to know.

Perhaps this has something to do with color profiles? What should my standard color profile be set to if I work mostly for web?

Anyways, the color shift is fairly obvious and in many cases, it’s unacceptable. Below is a sample that is is tolerable but not ideal. It just looks more "washed out."

Ok,

Looking into this a bit further. I found a list of color profiles in a "Display" folder on my system. It was set to a "Dell" profile. I found others and when I used the AdobeRGB profile, it fixed the problem.

I work on the web and don’t do print so it’s not as critical that color profiles are perfect but I’m now trying to get a general guideline for this.

Is there a better option than using one of these pre-made profiles?

Let’s make a minor course correction here, Art.

You may find it useful for further, proper research.

It’s "Save FOR Web" or "SFW" and not "Save to Web" (STW, as you called it)

It may sound picky, but picky can be important when we’re trying to search for something. The devil—and the glory—is in the details.
