When using another tool (for example brush or select), I have the option of pressing Control+space bar to get zoom tool, and in CS1 I could then right click to get some zoom tool options: fit in screen, actual pixels, print size, etc.

But for some reason in CS2 the right-clicking option is not working consistently: either the menu comes up for only an instant or not at all. When I have the zoom tool selected as my main tool, this problem doesn’t happen.

Any thoughts about this? best, David.

David,

If it’s any help to you, here’s how my PSCS2 behaves when a tool other than the zoom tool is active.

CTRL plus Space Bar, while held down, brings up the + zoom tool. As long as I keep these keys depressed, PS step-zooms inward with each mouse click. The zoom tool options bar does not appear, but whatever options were last set there apply.

ALT plus CTRL plus Space Bar acts the same except the zooming is outward.

These shortcut keys do not depend on the status of the General Preferences checkbox "Zoom Resizes Window". That checkbox DOES affect the action of the related shortcut keys CTRL plus +/- and ALT plus CTRL plus +/- which (when the referenced chekbox is unchecked) zoom without resizing and zoom while resizing. When the checkbox is checked these key combinations reverse their roles. Note that these shortcut keys using +/- rather than the space bar do not require a mouse click and you don’t hold them down. You just repeat them for each desired zoom increment.
