FONTS APPEAR PIXELATED ON SCREEN

Changing from 7 to CS2, and have just started putting some text onto the page, and the font appears pixelated on screen, tried changing from open type, to true type but still the same result, saving to web same result, photoshop 7 produced graphics with really clear soft fonts, how do i get the same result with cs2

Have you checked your anti-aliasing in the Characters window? (Toolbar – Window>> Character)

Sounds like you may be set to "None". Try changing the setting to "Smooth".

Check your pixel dimensions, pixels per inch resolution, etc., to determine how many pixels high your characters are. If your image is 72 ppi and you are creating 12 pt text, there will only be 12 pixels from the highest ascender to the lowest descender, so it will be hard to avoid pixilation even with antialiasing. If your image is 300 ppi and you are creating 12 pt text, the character cell is 50 pixels high, so the text won’t look very pixilated even without antialiasing.

But PS shows type smoothly at all resolutions and enlargements, until it has been rendered. No?
