I have about 200 rectangular photos, some taller than wide, some wider than tall.

I would like to add to either the width or height, as appropriate, to make the image a square. Then resize them to 150px x 150px.

Is there a way, perhaps using an action, to do this? My problem is being unable to tell the action whether it’s the height or the width that needs to be increased.

As an alternative, I could separate the tall photos from the wide ones, and do them in two batches, using two different actions. But is there a way to do them all at once?

Thanks

File-> Automate -> Fit Image

Fit them to 150 x 150 pixels, then use canvas size to add width or height to make the file square.

This can be done with actions and batch processing
