I need to convert a 2 dimensional image of a globe into something that looks more like a 3 dimensional spherical image, is there a way to do this in Photoshop? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Look into the spherize filter. It may help you along.

You could try Filter>Spherize a coupl of times, or use the 3D Transform filter found on the Installation disk.

Both will give you a half-decent simulation of a globe, far from perfect though.

Thanks! The spherize command was the most useful; it also gave me a chance to experiment and learn some more about Photoshop! I actually found a tutorial (http://www.tutorialwiz.com/globe2/) which I was able to customize for my own purposes.

Hi Simon,

While I have found it a largely useless plug-in for any of my needs, and also not knowng what you’re needing to create a globe for, I’ll just throw out that you might enjoy playing around with the Flaming Pear Lunar Cell plug-in. It is used for creating rather realistic images of planets and a demo is available at <http://www.flamingpear.com/lunarcell.html>.

Daryl
