Is there any possible way to save an extraction…

I’m currently extracting something, and it would be nice to be able to save your extraction as a channel or something so you could come back and resume later.

What do you mean by "extraction"?
If you mean the results of the Extract tool, then …

Do the extraction on a copy of the layer. The extraction is placed onto a new layer. CTRL-click on the layer, which will select all the pixels that have been extracted. Now you can save that selection [and load it again later].

Is that what you wanted?

No, I want to save the highlights in the extraction tool so I can save, come back later, and finish "extracting".
