Hello,

I’m a newbie and I just learnt how to make a web photo gallery in photoshop. I have photoshop CS2 and I made a photogallery with thumbnails. I have 2 questions:

1. I would like the thumbnails to be displayed in a particular order. How do I get photoshop to display the thumbnails in the order that I wish? Do I have to rename the original images?

2. I would like some text to be displayed beneath each image. How do I do that?

Please help.
Thank you,
Sarah

To get the images in a certain order, I would rename them (or a copy of them, if you don’t want to modify the original) with something like 01xxxx.jpg, 02xxxx, etc.

Or you could reorder them in the thumbnail HTML page.

By text under the images, do you mean different text for each image? The only way to do that is to modify the HTML of the resultant gallery, for each image page.

No need.

Simply set the order of the images in Bridge, either using the "Sort" menu or manually. The Web Gallery will be created with the images in that order.

As for displaying text. Some of the galleries have the facility to display certain metadata. "Centered Frame Info Only" is and example of this. You can get it to display the "Title", "Description" "Credits" and Copyright" fields in the info panel.

Most others allow you to shoose one of these under the thumbnails instead of the filename.

Note that sorting in Bridge also requires that you generate the web gallery through Bridge (Tools > Photoshop > Web Photo Gallery) so that the option "Selected Images from Bridge" is utilized by the Web Photo Gallery dialog.

Thank you very much. I now have the thumbnails in order, and also text caption for each image.

Thank you very much.
