Convert silk paper scans to glossy paper photos

in my work i often need to scan photos that were printed on silk paper,so as to print them on glossy paper.
when i do that the quality of the scanned photos is very low.its like i have added a patern of spots in my photo.
does anybody know a filter or a quick tutorial to increase their quality without the need to retouch it from the beginning?

You could try using the ‘descreen’ filter on your scanner. This removes Moire’ patterns and might help you with the silk prints.

Photoshop has several noise filters that might help. Play around with them and also some of the blur filters.

Finally, you might want to try one of the noise reduction filters that are available (standalone and Photoshop plug-in). Several I know of include Noise Ninja, Neat Image (www.neatimage.com), and Imagenomics (www.imagenomic.com). You can download a demo version first to see if it will do the trick. Some of these can work apparent miracles.
