I’ve just spent the last three hours trying unsuccessfully to get an Agfa SnapScan 1212p installed on a Windows ME box.

I downloaded the installer package from Agfa, but when Scanwise starts up it doesn’t find the scanner, nor does Windows in the device manager.

I’ve verified that the parallel port is set to EPP, and I’ve tried installing without the printer in the system and it still isn’t happy. If I try to run the add scanner wizard, it asks me for a .inf file I don’t have and can’t seem to find on the web.

Has anyone got the original disk that came with this model, or a copy of the driver or .inf file they could copy for me? It’s for a sweet old lady who wants to be able to send pictures of the grandkids. There’s no budget for the obvious upgrade.

I think I may have it (I have an 1212 USB version). I’ll report back if so this late afternoon (Madrid’s time).

By no means! I said this was OT.

I figured this was a good place to ask because I have access to hundreds, perhaps thousands of people on the forum who use scanners, and one of them might actually own an old 1212 and have what I need. 🙂

Gustavo,

Many thanks. The scanner I’m trying to install is the parallel version (with the switch) but I’ll appreciate anything you find. Could be they had only one installation disk for all three models.

They had the scanwise.exe installer, as far as I remember

Gustavo,

As I think I mentioned, I downloaded the scanwise package from Agfa, but it apparently isn’t loading whatever ME needs to see the scanner as hardware, and there is nothing else available any longer at the Agfa site.

The hardware wizard would be happy, perhaps, if could find the .inf file that matches the scanner, but I don’t have any way to figure out what that is, and it doesn’t come up as an option when Windows does a search.

You might find something that works here.
