Hello,

I’m currently working on an assignment, but have been stumped.

What I have planned to do is a portrait image of myself (800×800) but divided in to 8 sections from the center (like a pizza). So I started out by drawing boxes 100×800 in black and white consecutivly, distorted using polar coordinates, smudging the center to get them to be selectable with the magic wand.

This is where I got stuck, I want each section to be a replica of the original, but altered. Let’s not get into that now 😛

I’m trying to use masking, but am unsure where to even begin.

Gordon,

I’d copy the 100×800 "boxes" and drag or paste them into a new 800 x 800 image. Each "slice" would then be on its own layer, (use the move tool, V on the keyboard to line them up) to which you can add all the filter efffects, liquify and image adjustments you want. Only limited by your own imagination.

Masking and layers? go to http://www.pixel2life.com and search the photoshop section for them
