I start out with a file of about 25 m. I select a few areas, make corrections and other changes and end up with a file size of 95m.. This happens frequently, and although I have a lot of ram and a fast processor, I am working with very large files. Are the many selections boosting my file size or what am I doing to get this large. Is there any way of reducing the file after I am satisfied with the file. I store files to CD’s and it takes a lot of space for a 95m file on a 700m CD.

Also, when using adjustment layers or layers in general, how can I print all active layers to get an idea of how a print will look, without flattening?

It depends what you are doing with the selections. Selections are not saved with the file unless you save them using "Save Selection". If you use them to create new layers they will add to the file size and if you add masks to normal or adjustment layers the file size will also increase. Text layers also increase file size.

Experiment by watching the file size in the box to the lower left of the status bar at the bottom of the image window grow as you perform each function.

You can of course reduce the file size finally by flattening it but, once it is saved flattened, you can’t go back and make changes to what you did.

With regard to your last question, you do not need to flatten a file to print it. The print will show all visible layers. What you see is what you get (assuming your colour management is OK).
