Corinne, you could create a new layer and apply any number of filters like median, dust/scratches,gaussian blur etc. after you apply the filter, hit the layer mask icon,which will give you back your unfiltered version and then hit the b-key and just touch the spots to make them dissapear. a new thread is usually the way to go though.
