Oh dear! All I can do is repeat what I said last time

Less is more.

Unless you are after a fantasy effect, you should always aim for a final result which doesn’t show any evidence of retouching.

Also, don’t keep doing the same thing over and over. Whiten the teeth and eye once. Use Liquify once – and use it sparingly.

The final result looks so unlike the original person, I would never be able to sell that amount of retouching to any of my customers.

My customers want people to say "Isn’t that a lovely portrait of you", not "Isn’t it fantastic what they can do with computers these days".

The best digital retouchers are those who first learned their craft with dyes, airbrush, pencil and scalpel. When we moved to the digital arena we carried through the same techniques to use with the new tools.

Keep at it though. You’ll get there.

Chris.

I agree with chris. not only can i not imagine doing that much to each shot, doesnt a person still need to appear very close to what they are in reality? she looks like two different people. . I understand your intentions, but i think you need to temper your techniques with a little more subtlety. If there is that big a difference, anyone who sees it, sees right past the beauty attempt, and thinks,i know her,and she does not look like that. I would be interested what the girl says when she sees herself. her comment should be, i am beautiful, and not thats not the real me. i say all this with encouragement, and having someone of chris’s ability share his knowledge on the subject,is worth hearing.

This is not a touchup; it’s an extreme makeover. Both of the videos show a very good and very detailed extreme makeover. This is not the touchup that Chris does for a prom queen or bride who comes in for a shoot; it’s making an older or less-attractive subject look younger or more attractive. Well done, from that perspective.
