Help Installing Photoshop CS2

While copying new files during the installation process, I get the error with the title "Windows File Protection" that says, "Winndows files must be installed for your intallation to proceed. Please insert your Windows XP CD." The problem is, my computer came with XP already on it, so I dont have the CD. Does anyone know what the problem is and how it can be fixed? Thanks.

my computer came with XP already on it, so I dont have the CD

Go back to the dealer who sold you the computer and ask them for the CD.

Other than that, assuming you have a legal version of Windows, you may be able to reinstate the missing files by doing a Windows Update.

Laptops these days seem to ship with an "install" partition, which is what you use to re-install the OS and any manufacturer bundled software. Toshiba does this for all their laptops, and you don’t get any CDs.

There should be a utility that will allow burning the install CDs.

or if you have a hot copy of windows, just get a wga patch. !!!, or block the wga.exe from internet with firewall. and for wmp11, there is a .reg file floating around too. these are the only 2 things wga will look for when getting updates from msoft.
