CS3 BRUSHES WILL NOT RESIZE

I have CS3 and the brushes seem to have gone south. I only can get the cross hair. I have changed preferences and this did not help. I cant hit the brackets to resize nor can I use the paramerters on top (resizing etc).

I went to another psd file and the brushes seemed ok. It appears as if it is only this one PSD file that is screwed up
Any suggestions?

On a new file they worked, and then I went back to the orginal file and they seemed to correct them selves. OOLLM (One Of Lifes Little Mysteries)

John may have solved the mystery. It is easy to hit caps lock when you don’t mean to, and that changes to the cross hair, with no way back except turning off the caps lock.
