I’m not one to be shy of displaying my ignorance for the whole world to see, so here we go: what’s the point? You haven’t ‘improved’ the faces by removing blemishes etc, you’ve actually changed them, towards some idea of ‘perfection’ by effectively changing their bone structure.

I can see a PS makeover as being something to remove the obvious photographic artefacts, and even slight blemishes. But when you go so far as changing the shape of the face, and removing all blemishes to the point of the result being ‘plastic’, I have to question the real point of it all.

The music was OK though.

Are you beginning to notice a pattern?

Maybe he should get a job with Playboy or Victoria’s Secret.

I think he isn’t looking for any real feedback, just trying to get his view count up on YouTube.

I dont remember anyone liking your first attempt, and this one proves you still are trying to totally alter reality. whats the point? if you have a portrait business, i cant imagine anyone wanting to become someone else, which is what you are doing basically. i can only imagine how long this takes you. what do you do if you have photoshoot, and the person wants 15 shots reworked? i think klaas is correct.

Okay… Benefit of the doubt. Let’s not stamp out any of the enthusiasm this young man might have.

I think the best advice I can offer Loicrs (over and above my remarks in response to the first "makeover") is to work in layers.

Reviewing both videos, it is apparent you keep going back over the same ground (such as whitening eyes) again and again. Creating a new layer for each part of the "makeover" and making good use of adjustment layers, allows you go go back and tweak. You can even delete a layer and start over, without affecting other edits.

More importantly, you can always reduce the opacity of, or add layer masks to, these layers to "tone down" any over zealous edits.

This way you will achieve a more natural result.

Chris.

It’s what I did, I worked with layers and masks.

You’re being a bit assumptive here; I never wieghe in either way on your first makeover <G>…but for 19 you do have some mad skills!

As long as this was a demo for the sake of showing what you CAN do and not your STANDARD approach to retouching, a think you’ve done a fine job, though I question your approaches somewhat.

But if anything, this makes a good case for never believing another photograph again. Not to mention what it does to online dating….

I dont want to impede on anyones enthusiasm for sure. i think your intentions are probably to flatter your subjects, but subtlety is the key to creating a close likeness of your subject without creating a new person altogether. it would be interesting to hear what your models reaction is to seeing themselves now. i guess if they are happy, thats all that counts.
