Hello, Can someone tell me how to use the extract filter on a .tif file? When I open a .tif, create a layer and click on Filter, the Extract Filter is not an option. It is available with .jpg’s, but not .tif’s.

Thank you in advance.

Don’t create a new blank layer…duplicate the background layer instead if you want to see the changes made by the extract filter or to extract the image onto it’s own layer

Hi Christine,

Thank you for the reply.

It does not matter whether I attempt to work with the original .tif, a background layer, etc., the extract filter is not offered as an option. When I click on Filters, the extract filter is not available. I can open a .jpg and use the extract filter, but not a .tif.

I am using Windows XP, CS2, dual processors and 2GB of RAM.
