I hope this is the right forum.

I have just tried to buy an upgrade from CS2 to CS3 as a download from the UK store. I was only offered the Mac version:
<http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/photography/temp/upgrade.gif>

If I wanted the full version, I could get a Windows version: <http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/photography/temp/full.gif>

I have checked my account and registration details, and it clearly says (this is a copy & paste):
"Adobe Photoshop CS 2 Windows May 05, 2005 1"

I have never used Mac, always bought Windows versions of Photoshop & its upgrades, and always registered them. Have a missed a menu item somewhere? Is it a bug?

I think you have the incorrect link.
Go to www.adobe.co.uk and click Store. Then go to options for Photoshop Family. The Adobe site has upgrades for both PC and Mac.
Also, you should have a look at the new Adobe CS3 Extended version.

Hi Karen,

You can get both mac and pc versions if you want to have a disk delivered, but it only gives the option for a mac download version.

Oddly, the download version is about £5 more expensive than the delivered version.

Bye for now.

"I think you have the incorrect link"

I just got to the same page via the link you gave me. It says the same as I got before.

However I am now convinced it is bug in the Adobe website. If I order the BOX upgrade, I get a choice of whether to have Windows or Mac. If I order the DOWNLOAD upgrade, I don’t get the choice. That is nonsense!

(I have checked the extra features of Extended that John Nack published on hos blog, and on the "store" section of the Adobe website, and it doesn’t have any extra that would be useful enough for me, except the features that Martin Evening described in one of his articles).

It also only applies to the English download! Every other version has a Windows download.

(Now … should I buy the Finnish one? How long would it take me to learn Finnish…?)

Sillier and sillier!

The problem stated above applies if you choose
"UPG from Photoshop 7.0, CS, or CS2"
<http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/photography/temp/upgrade.gif>

But if you choose:
"UPG von Photoshop 7.0, CS, or CS2"
you get ONLY the Windows version, not the Mac version, and ONLY the English version! <http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/photography/temp/von.gif>

(Why using "von" instead of "from" gives access to the ENGLISH version – and ONLY the English version – beat me!)

Dare I try it? I dread to think what sinister trap whoever did this has created for me!

There’s nothing sinister about the Adobe web site – it is just a disgraceful example of "how not to" and another symptom of the chaos that has resulted from the acquisition of Macromedia.

I agree. I found the old Macromedia pages for Dreamweaver Extensions, etc, so bad that I gave up. (I just had a look at it again – it looks remarkably like the Adobe UK Store pages! Boy oh boy – they took one of the worst such sites on the planet and replicated it for people buying Photoshop!) I have broadband – how can a site be that slow?

Personally, I wish Adobe let their own design team continue to maintain their site and store. It looks like they let the Macromedia team take over their site — which I personally think was a bad idea. The whole site is slower now that it’s loaded down with excess Flash bloat that really isn’t necessary. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

I agree. They also messed up the Xchange site to the point I don’t even bother. Flash has its uses and one of them is not for an entire site.

Hello

I can get an upgrade to CS2 for Windows from Amazon or Netcom in the UK, but can I get a confirmation from Adobe UK that I am eligible for a free upgrade to CS3, I cannot! I have had several email messages that evade the point, but nothing that states clearly that I am eligible for free upgrade as I would be in the post announce period.
Also there seems to be no information on who is an official dealer I could post the whole correspondence but cannot see how it will benefit me!
