We have training machines with Adobe CS2 running in an XP VM in Virtual PC 2004. We’ve had some issues with Photoshop not showing the alt/rollover text when putting your mouse over an icon (specifically tools)….which, from a training perspective, is a key visual cue to learners to help them with what the tools are.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issues, and if so, is there any way to fix it?

Thanks!

I cannot speak to using Photoshop in a virtual OS but if this is the only quirk, why don’t you simply hand out reference pages? It is a whole mess easier than waiting for tooltips to appear, even in a native OS. Students can study the page even when they are not in the classroom.

See here to find plenty of other folks that prefer a visual guide <http://images.google.com/images?q=photoshop%20toolbox>.

I think it is important to make sure the machine caters for learners needs.

Equally, if VM is important can’t the machines be somehow differentiated?
