Removing sun from pic

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some help with removing the brightness from this pic. thanks for any help

If it was shot as a RAW file, you should be able to rescue it in ACR using the Highlight slider. CS3’s latest version of ACR will do an even better job courtesy of the Highlight Recovery control.

If it was shot as a Jpeg – what you see is what you get, I’m afraid. Burned out highlights are irretrievable.

As you can see here, simply darkening the image cannot bring back information which is just not present in those highlights.

Black and white, however, is far more forgiving of burned out highlights, so you may want to pursue that route with this particular image.
