I have looked all over to find what issues are actually accuring with vista and have found no hint any ware. I am now using photo shop cs3 trial and previously cs. both have had an issue with the selection tool choseing to make the selection on its own when my fan on my laptop turns on and off. HP insists its PS and my fault for putting it on my laptop. I think its a short in my fan. Anyone have a clue? is this an common issue with vista and PS or is HP jerking my chain? If it is will Adobe be fixing these things?

CS3 is the first version to be supported under Vista. And by Trial I assume you mean beta in which case all bets are off.

ok that answers some small bit of the mystery but is there no connection in the fact that I am haveing the same problem with both CS and CS3 beta? Suported or not its the only problem I had with CS and now the same with CS3. The glitch is noticable in Vista its self too. But Hp still insists the whole cause is PS. All I wish to know is if this is a known issue or maybe somthing simular? I need to know befor I call a last time and tell them it is definitly my fan and not PS. Or else if it is PS and not the fan I have no case to fight with them.

Give it some time and see if anyone else posts.

Does your laptop happen to be a HP Pavillion? Mine had the same/similar problem. HP claimed it was Photoshop. Adobe claimed it was HP. I renamed MMXCore and FastCore in the Plug-Ins\Extensions folder and have never had any problems since.

CS3 runs on Vista, however some plug-ins will not operate properly. I have Vista installed in a dual boot system. Vista has so many problems that no one should assume it is capable of being a real world OS. YOu have been warned. The "wow" factor Microsoft uses in its TV ads is short for "wow, this really stinks!"
Here is my biggest problem using Vista for Photoshop:
The Spyder II has Vista compatible drivers. So does the Moncaco Optix but those drivers will not work at all in my Vista installation and Monaco was of no help at all with support.
My wide panel LCD monitor calibrates perfectly under XP using the Spyder but I am unable to calibrate the same monitor starting with the same monitor settings at all under Vista. Is the problem the Vista Nivida video driver, the Vista Spyder driver/program, Vista itself?
Who cares? Unlike Monaco at least the Spyder technical support is trying to assist, but it would have been better if the programs and drivers simply worked before they were released.
A curse on all their houses.
Avoid Vista until Microsoft totally reshoes this lame horse.

You posted this same diatribe in the Vista ng. Yet you fail to give any details about which plug-ins won’t work. Then you rage on about not having the correct driver for running a calibrated color system. And you state…"avoid Vista until Microsoft totally reshoes this lame horse". So you think MS should provide the correct drivers for all of your 3rd part apps that don’t work under Vista?
That’s simply unbelievable anyone with even one weeks experience on any computer would be that…stupid or gullible.
BTW, PS CS3 and all of my plug-ins work perfectly under Vista Ultimate x32 & x64.
