I still like this program that came with my scanner years ago. I have a problem I can’t solve. I get the error message-The photo browsed could not be started. Photodeluxe may not be properly installed. I tried removing and reinstalling but the same problem persists. It will not allow me to access ‘my photos’ and remove so I reach a point where the program does not work at all.

Please don’t tell me to learn to use the newer programs.

thanks for any help

John

What OS are you using. Very few programs survive unscathed when it comes to OS updates, especially when the programs are dead and no longer updated to support the newer OSes.

Find the .exe file for the program.

Right-click and go to "Properties".

Select the "Compatibility" tab.

Put in an appropriate OS for your old program.

(Sorry it doesn’t go back before Win95.)

Thanks for the responses. Sorry I am such a dummy about this stuff. I am running XP Professional. When I tried to access properties initially I got this message " The folder "C:\Program Files\Photo Deluxe BE1.1" specified in the Start In Box is not valid. Make sure the folder exists and the path is correct. I uninstalled service pack 2 which has caused me problems in the past and removed and reinstalled Photo Deluxe–no change. Got the same maessage when I tried to access ‘properties’. Did get into properties via ‘seek taget’ and changed the compatibility to the different choices. This also made no difference.

"Please don’t tell me to learn to use the newer programs."

Get yourself a copy of the newest Photoshop Elements.

😉 🙂

Seriously, you won’t regret it, and for under $100, you’ll be amazed at how much more it’ll do than the old PS LE.

I don’t know if PhotoDeluxe had them (haven’t used it in years) but do a Search for a Preferencs file for PhotoDeluxe in Document and Settings. Try deleting it and restarting and see if that helps.
